We have lift-off
26 July 2010
So we finally got the website launched towards the end of last week and already it's causing quite some debate across various Arsenal sites!
On the .com message board it's safe to say that the response has been pretty much as expected. A fair few insulting comments thrown our way from cyber warriors over there, and some either questioning or deriding our motives. As stated this was expected, because it's obvious that we have a large number of Arsenal followers nowadays who refuse to accept an alternative view.
We're glad to report that a large number of others on various Arsenal websites and forums see where we're coming from and the response from them has been a lot more positive. We're not expecting everyone to love what we're about and jump on board. We welcome sensible debate - and maybe through this debate we'll find that us Arsenal supporters aren't too different in the way we think and what we want from our club.
Finally, just a couple of points to finish this article and hopefully they'll answer some of the questions and general misgivings about this website and the people behind it.
1. It's NOT a protest!
We've been labelled a protest group by many, and to that we say "You're wrong". It's obvious that to these people, we're trying to form some kind of hostile protest much like the anti-Glazer Man United mob and apparently we're all about causing havoc. Totally incorrect.
We're a movement. A group of individuals coming together because we believe in something and feel we should have a say and that we can contribute for the good of our club, the club we've all grown up with. The club our families have supported for generations and the club we hope our kids, their kids and so on will continue to support. We're not having a moan because we've won nothing for the past few years. It's about where the club is heading.
2. Why the black?
On the 'About Us' page we talk about the reasoning behind black and yellow as our main colour scheme. We're not asking the club to adopt these colours and we don't feel that as an Arsenal supporters group we have to have red & white or yellow & blue as our colour scheme to have any form of credence.
Up The Gunners.
